Parallel Cosmos

Carl Sagan's "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" is widely considered to be the best science TV show ever made. Two years ago Fox (?!?!?!) announced a contemporary update was in the works. The new version was to be presented by Neil deGrasse Tyson and produced by Seth MacFarlane (?!?!?!?!?!?!). It sounded ridiculous. 

This morning we got our first look at "Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey": 

As expected, this update is unlikely to rival Sagan's masterpiece. The biggest clue comes in their respective titles. The new Cosmos is "A Space Time Odyssey". The trailer shows a bombastic, fantastical, crashing spectacular of cosmological grandeur. In contrast, Sagan's Cosmos was "A Personal Voyage". A subtle, gracious and articulate tour of our universe.
